Oh please. Stop acting like a maniac. The people had their chance and the people failed to elect a Democrat majority in Congress. You lose Sparky. But they claim they won which leaves us all scurrying to the library so that we can get a copy of 1984.

You are right. Clearly, the Republican Party is filled with old-timers who want to get back to what they regard as the "good old days". And the pursuit of that futile goal will ultimately prove to be their undoing...

I have spoken to a few young people and their view of the Republican Party is almost unanimous -- the party leaders have absolutely no vision of the future. Here we are, on the threshold of the new millennium and yet, the Republican leaders find themselves languishing in the 1890's, and what's worse, feeling good about it!

No wonder they call themselves the "Grand Old Party". Old, they certainly are! Maybe they should make it "obsolete", instead of "old"! :-)

And you are right again about the year 2000 elections. The elections will rain more than a few punches on the GOP. I do hope that the shock of the defeat and the magnitude of the defeat, will help the party shake off the rabid religious right-wing members and get to the center -- which is where most of America really is.

>>THE PEOPLE run this damn country and the GOP somehow has
forgotten that.

Gee, I didn't know NZ had a GOP! Your absence here has obviously raised the intelligence level of the US Rep party.

Thank you!

We just had an election and the people voted for the party that was set to impeach Clinton.

>>I am NEVER wrong on these things and it is so certain that it is not even worth my time to even debate it.

Actually, you are always wrong, since the Rep party has been more successful over the past 15 years than in many generations.
