I would say you go and try a third-party TCP/IP stack.. I'm not sure if they exist but I would be willing to bet that B&W have one for 95/98.. it's worth the attempt anyway..

I jsut can't see a cable modem getting slower over time.. all a cable modem is, is a router and signal converter.. nothing to get slower or faster with time.. 98's software stack could conceivably get nasty though..

What brand modem and what cable co?
