CB,

Absolutely true. Good find. I was disappointed that there was no mention of the Gopher development efforts at the University of Minnesota, which at the time were very significant. And there was no specific mention of the work done by Carnegie-Mellon, though their efforts may be included in the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center.

I remember when I got into this internet stuff and sent my first communication to another techie type (a test message) when I gained access to a primitive precursor of what we call the net today. No frames or browsers, per se. Everything was textual and menu driven. No point and click. Black and white only (or black and green if I remember correctly). Relatively slow by today's standards. I think I was on a Dec 7xx machine at the time. But the amazing thing was that it worked! We could communicate with other colleges and send statistics, reports and educational material fairly quickly. At that time I don't think very many people were able to envision what we have today.
