John, just highlight the address where you are (located in the address bar), hit Control-C, then go where you want to copy it to, and press Control-V. I think this is what you need?

If I understand you correctly, you want to provide a link on which people can click to go to the news item/graph you want them to go to.
For example, If i want you to go to your message, highlight the URL, Control c, come back to the body of the massage and control v. It will copy the URL. When that URL is published in the final message, any one will be able to click on it.
