Random musings: Many thanks to those who have written in
about the cancellation of my "Squawk Box" appearance while
CNBC reviews the WavePhore (WAVO:Nasdaq) controversy. I
must tell you, having been investigated falsely in 1995 for
something I did not do and having had my whole life turned
upside down for no good reason, I have become somewhat
philosophical about the process of being investigated. What I
learned then was that some things are out of your control. The
only person I can please is myself, and I know I did nothing
wrong in trying to explain the short squeeze in WavePhore.

Big institutions have rules and investigations and protocols. I
just try to do what I think is right. Sometimes the individual's right of expression will clash with the institution's needs. When
they do, the individual invariably loses. Which is why, in the end,
the only thing that matters is whether you can look yourself in
the mirror and say, "I did my best, I did what I thought was
right," and move on.
