>>I've been meaning to call PQ and will in the AM. I'll ask about their
version DOS.

I think Sean answered this one.

>>swapping cables seems safe too...

If the two disks are on different controllers, you have to move
the cable. If on the same controller, you will have to change
a jumper. Safest to unplug the NT drive altogether then jumper
the other as a single drive (depending on the drive, a master
of a pair or a single drive alone may or may not have different
jumper settings).

>>Yes 2 partitions called c and d would be clear if they remained as
such.

Oh? You're talking about two partitions on the same drive,
the one with NT, right? If so, they will NOT be c and d;
they will be c and (probably) e when booted that drive (the
NT drive). They will be something else when booted from
the other drive (DOS Drive, rapidly becoming Win 98 Place,
soon to be followed by primrose path<g>). Just what
depends on how many partitions on the second drive.

>>I assumed W98 could only be formated in FAT16 or 32.... no?.

Well, yes, but. If you want to SEE the (is it now?) Win 98
Place from NT, you must format it as fat16.

BTW, the size limit of a FAT16 partition is two GB.

>>I'll check on Aopen site for slave boot capability

To be clear here, the point is if you can boot from a
floppy (the A drive) and still have the slave appear
as the C drive. Both. At the same time. If so,
you can install DOS on the slave having booted from
the floppy. If not, it's time to touch cable.

But the bios MUST allow you to boot from the slave
(without booting from the floppy) in order to boot
the OS there.

These are two separate cases -- install now, boot
later.
