WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Dec 14 (Reuters) - Coyote Network Systems said Monday it has asked the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission to review recent trades of its common stock for possible market manipulation or other potential illegal activity.

On Dec. 9, Internet service, TheStreet.Com, published stories about Coyote Network that company officials believe are incomplete and misleading. Since then, many statements have been made throughout the Internet that Coyote Network officials believe have caused harm to the company, its shareholders, customers and vendors, the company said in a statement.
