Thanks for the reply Quaddad - My concern was that since my IRA is so small and I usually hold only a very few, very volatile stocks (one moved 50% today) that Datek's delay would cost me extra tax $$. Of course it could work the other way too. Someone told me that you are taxed on the date that your paperwork is received and date stamped and not necessarily the conversion date. The IRS told me it was up to the brokerage I had the IRA with, but Datek told me they were forbidden to answer any tax questions so I guess I'll find out when I get the tax form after the first of the year.
