roq, my bet is that bull ta types do well in bull markets and short ta types do horrible. a key question would be, do you short (put) using ta and are your results as good as long ta plays.

I read a few books and tried a couple of systems and then one day I threw all my charts into the fireplace muttering something like ," I can lose this much money without the help of these things". Since then I just have a general approach, which looks at breakouts and breakdowns,, sort of measuring channels and triangles to get an approximate idea of the possible move, nothing hard and fast. Since I trade all day I think my strength is in wiggling out of bad positions before they get too costly. The right guesses take care of themselves.
I see it as somewhat of a poker game where losing a lot of antes is part of the game, the secret is to keep it as close to antes as possible IMHO...
I have the distinct advantage of not paying commission and therefore am willing to fold at the slightest hint of being wrong...
