You could not be more correct.

I almost gagged yesterday when Dan Rather intoned gravely that things are extremely serious in Washington and that Clinton's presidency is at stake. He pledged to bring timely, fair and accurate coverage!

That's the same network that pushed all the Clinton scandals to the background and in fact has refused to use the word "scandal" to describe Clinton's defining attribute. Rather is the same guy that appended "sleaze factor" to the Reagan administration whenever he could and has always called Starr "the Republican prosecutor" and the inquiry in the House as "the Republican" impeachment inquiry.

Can you imagine how Rather and the other big media would have reacted if Meese had failed to name an IC as Reno has just done. The NYT has an article today about how a LBJ appointed Federal Judge criticized Reno's decision as flying in the face of the law and cannot withstand analysis. See yellow inset:
