Right, freeus. What the "consumer" wants is whatever Bill gives them. Just ask Michael Dell. Nobody is the least bit intererested in an OS that sucks less, otherwise Microsoft, ever looking out for the "consumer", would give it to us. IBD is the definitive scientific reference too, right? They agree with your viewpoint, so they're "objective", in the popular definition.

You just miss the point that this DOJ case is for the competitors , not the consumers.
So, whether the consumers want the IE to be separated from the OS is not an issue here as long as the benefit of the competitors is served.
