>I think the real reason the votes are going along party lines is that the Democrats know they're in for the fight of the century for the WH in 2000.<

Could be. Democrats will kill their parents and eat them if it would give them political power. Why do you think the Republicans so doggedly pursue this matter, especially in light of the polls? I heard Hyde on one of the Sunday talkshows claiming the matter to him was indeed about integrity and the rule of law. I very nearly believe him, as he seemed quite sincere.

If it is true that the Republicans pursue the President because of a sincere belief that he has assaulted the country (which is my belief), and refuses to be reconciled to us, then I am extraordinarily impressed! I simply did not think the Republicans had the guts to go against the polls, polls that imply they will be flattened in 2000.

I didn't want Clinton removed because it might hurt my portfolio

Sad, isn't it! Money is more important that doing the
right thing. Not any more, I've wised up.

I was worried that an impeachment may ruin my stellar
stock market performance. I admit it was pretty selfish to
do that. I was wrong.

JLA, is right. We must follow the rules or else it is a
society based upon nothing.

I can remember when one of the ex-Surgeon Generals (Clinton picked) stated that we could reduce the crime rate my legalizing drugs. Perhaps we can make Clinton look better by changing our Constitution? It is utter nonsense.

It does say that a President can be removed for other crimes,
even smaller ones. Granted his crime is not huge. No one
was killed, he didn't steal money, he didn't commit treason, etc.
He lied and misled under oath. Granted it was an invasion of privacy.
He made a choice to lie or protect his privacy. He chose
to lie. Worse yet he involved other people and had them spread
the lies around yet more.

Without regard to the stock market, we should do the right thing.
Clinton should be removed!

Actually removing Clinton should not have any affect on the stock market. If it does, it should be POSITIVE. Why should the stock
market go up? The stock market should go up, because the system
is working! If the system fails, that is when the stock market has
a perfect right to go down.

Getting rid of the President should send everyone's stocks up.
It is a cleansing of the American spirit. Keeping the phoney
baloney around would weaken our resolve as Americans.
