MovieFone, Inc. Announces Dramatic Increase in Usage and Expansion of
Its Relationships With Nation's Top Theater Chains

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1998--

As Customer Demand for Electronic Movie Listings and Ticketing

Surges Loews Cineplex, United Artists, and AMC Entertainment

Expand Relationships, Add Phone and Internet Ticketing for 1,000

New Screens

MovieFone, Inc. (Nasdaq NM: MOFN), the nation's largest movie listing and
ticketing service, today announced that it will report record usage of its
services, and that it has inked new, expanded relationships with three of the
country's top theater chains.

The company announced that usage of the MovieFone telephone service and
its online sister service Movielink.com is expected to be up 30%, to 110
million user sessions for the year, representing over 250 million moviegoers,
or nearly 20% of all U.S. moviegoers in 1998.

Simultaneously, the company announced that Loews Cineplex Entertainment
(NYSE: LCP), United Artists Theatre Circuit, and AMC Entertainment Inc.
(AMEX: AEN) have each signed agreements to increase the depth of their
relationships with MovieFone both on the phone and the Web. As a result of
these expanded partnerships, the number of screens for which MovieFone
sells tickets on the phone and Web (Teleticketing) will increase by 1,000
screens -- or 40%. With the addition of these new screens, Teleticketing will
now be available for approximately 60% of all movie screens in the top five
movie cities (New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco)
and 25% of all movie screens in the 34 major cities served by MovieFone.

Moviegoers and Theater Chains Embrace Technology

"This strong increase in usage of our services shows that today's
moviegoers, especially the younger generation that accounts for the majority
of movie admissions, are moving away from traditional movie information
sources and are demanding instant access to listings and tickets," said
Andrew R. Jarecki, CEO of MovieFone, Inc. "Our expanded relationships with
the country's top theater chains show that the industry is embracing new
technology as it responds to the needs of its patrons."

Michael P. Norris, Executive Vice President of Loews Cineplex United
States, said: "We are very pleased to expand our longstanding relationship
with MovieFone to provide easier access to our listings and tickets through
the phone and the Internet nationwide. MovieFone is a forward-thinking
partner of LCE, combining marketing expertise and unparalleled
technological solutions. The result is the most customer-friendly and
convenient information and ticketing service for our moviegoers." Teleticketing
and Marketing Alliances

In addition to bringing Teleticketing to 1,000 new screens in 19 major cities,
the new relationships with these theater chains also provide additional
marketing and cross-promotional services to enhance moviegoers' access to
movie listings: -- MovieFone will provide theater-specific three-digit Express
Codes

so that moviegoers loyal to a particular theater may have instant

access to listings and tickets for that theater. -- In many cases, theaters will
replace their own individual phone

lines with local numbers provided by MovieFone to eliminate busy

signals and enhance customer service. -- MovieFone will provide an
electronic backbone through which the

chains will be able to offer information and tickets via their

own Web sites. -- MovieFone will promote these chains and their special
events

(e.g. new theater openings) through advertising on MovieFone and

Movielink.com and through its national network of media partners

(newspapers, radio stations, etc.). -- The theater chains will promote
MovieFone and Movielink.com in

their theaters.

MovieFone, Inc. through its MovieFone interactive telephone service (e.g.
777-FILM) and its online sister service Movielink.com, is the largest movie
listing guide and ticketing service in the country, providing millions of
moviegoers each week with a complete, free directory of movies, showtimes,
theater locations, and the ability to purchase tickets. The company, which is
celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has received over 325 million calls
and logged over 40 million online users. The company's services cover more
than 15,500 movie screens in 38 cities around the country, which account for
over 65% of national movie attendance. MovieFone, Inc. (Nasdaq NM:
MOFN) is a public company with offices in New York and Los Angeles.

MOFN now stabilized at 15 1/4. Should move further once CNBC Power Lunch comes on. Good time to get in again.
