AR, Thorp was the source of some of the card counting techniques, but not of the money management system. BTW, his firm was basically doing buy writes shorting warrants against long stock, as per his other book, "Beat The Market." The absence of warrants and convertibles sort of left them sitting there with a good idea that is no longer practicable. I don't know what he is doing now.

If I could talk to him, I would tell him that you can construct synthetic convertibles and warrants with Leap options, but he probably already knows that.
