re: "But we believe our industry associates are the real experts and will be able to satisfy that demand by extending the functionality of the MIFST code much faster and much better than we could do alone."

I've been waiting for someone else to speak up about this. Just what is MS bringing to the table here? A "framework"? An "architecture"? How about a WORKING PRODUCT? When couched in these words you can put together as many demos as you want, but if somebody wants to do some real business you're out of luck. There's a big difference between faked up numbers on a demo and real numbers from a customers bank account / utility bill.

If Transpoint ne Microsoft wants to be the "leading software vendor" then they better show up with some software that does the job all the way "down to the metal" to use their words.

It's significant that MS plans to use a hodgepodge of 200 some PCs running NT for the Transpoint central server, according to a recent interview with Levin, the head of MS's Personal Finance division. This is a job that a small number of clustered mainframes / minicomputers running a mature OS (UNIX/VMS/MVS/NSK) can do on it's lunch break with redundancy to spare.

Oops, I forgot you can't play Doom on one of those OS's as the transactions whiz by. Well that rules them out!
