What is a realistic scenario for anybody regaining prestige in the next 2 years, JBL? Just a little more, or a lot more, "non-partisan, professional" impeachment will get us over the hump, right? If Clinton goes down, the attack dogs will be called off, and Gore will be allowed to preform his duties with quiet effectiveness, right?

I don't know how we get out of this. I think impeachment makes things worse rather than better. If you really want to debate, maybe you could tell us more about Colin Powell, and why you think he'd be a good President, and why you think he could get the nomination. Outsiders usually don't have that easy a time grabbing the reigns of government, and I'd imagine a career military man would be somewhat more impatient with the process than the business types that are always touted as outsiders. Perhaps the Republican godfathers will draft and back him, but I don't think the primary process is set up to let that happen easily.

If you want to get others to join in the debate, be my guest, invite whoever you wish. Most of the people I exchange barbs with, I have a certain history on the "substantive debate" front, they're not interested in hearing my thoughts. Perhaps you could ask Rev. Pilch what he thinks of Colin Powell.
