But there was bipartisan support on the Nixon impeachment. When Nixon "did the right thing" and resigned, his advisors estimated he had maybe 100 votes supporting him in the House, and he wasn't expected to do better in the Senate. There wasn't exactly a groundswell of public support behind Nixon, either. There was a certain gravity to that affair. Also somewhat different journalistic standards too, as Woodward and Bernstein were always running around trying to get two sources for everything they printed.

Unfortunately with Nixon - he did abuse his power by involving the IRS, FBI and CIA, involved with direct action of breaking and entering, all under Nixon's direction - - - - I wish that he only had Monica around so we could impeach him.
