There is a benefit if you can adjust the radio's controls from the steering wheel or the windshield, thereby removing the necessity of having to tilt your head down to the center console every time you wanted to adjust your radio. Notice how many of the Japanese sports cars actually used this configuration with their car radios. Why didn't Blaunkpaunt sue them? Was it because it was a good idea.
