>>>> I see Deere has a track tractor to compete with the Cat Challenger. Don't want to change a track or ask the price of either. <<<<

Hey, Ish. I saw, looked at, observed, mused over, drove by in truth, one of those tracked Deere's in Eastern Oregon. Maupin or Grass Valley. And wondered precisely the same thing: "Boy I bet those tracks are easy to handle, install, and cheap." Yah, light, like a hoola hoop. And I don't know, maybe there's some nifty way to get the track on, but......

["And this here contraption is your handy track-jack....." "And these are yure 3 renta-heppers."]

But I guess they don't go flat, either. My wild guess, tho, is that the track interface compresses soil more than a tire. I'm always wrong, so soil non-compression is probly why they were developed.

OK; how's this then for an objection: They look bad. They look ~ "non-farm". That's a sin, and everbody knows it.

God, what a geezer I am.

It's just a dinky tractor next to the T Rex's y'all are talking about. A Kabota, orange. Don't know the number, the guys at the tractor store know that. The back tires are about 4 feet tall, I reckon. Cumbursom enough. It's got 4wheeldrive and a bucket on the front, though. The bucket is great fun. Useful, even.

There's a 2000 acre cove by here that is farmed. Soy beans and corn. The man and woman have all that HUGE stuff. All in green. The corn withered this year, but I think he did okay with the soy beans.

I like that word Cumbursome. Maybe I'll learn how to spell it.
