Saint Bede was an ancient Christtian who gave us a valuable history of the Church in England from 597-731 A.D. [ Ecclesiastical History of the English People] Venerable Bede, the Celtic missionaries, and Pope Gregory the Great's missionaries from Rome were all powerful spiritual instruments in bringing Gospel to the pagan Anglo-Saxons living in England. Venerable Bede also left many spiritual commentaries on some of the books of the Holy Bible. I have reprinted his beautiful spiritual insights on Mary's Song after the angel announced Jesus' conception by the Holy Spirit.
The spiritual treasures contained in the writings of these early saints remind us that the "interpretation of Scriptures should never be a personal matter", but rather a reflection of the mind of the whole Church throughout all Christian epochs. The Holy Spirit has been equally at work in every generation and every era of Church history. To neglect the mind of the Body of Christ in the past is to neglect the mind and will of the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit works through the Church. Wherever two or more Christians are gathered in His name, Christ is in their midst.
All cults and all heresies begin by separating themselves from this Holy Spirit directed Body of Christ. The mind and teachings of the Saints of God in the last two thousand years reflect the mind of God, because it is God who has inspired and given life to each and every generation of Christians for the last two thousand years. The Church is a spiritual creation, a holy nation, it is simply the Body of Chirst. It is through this holy instrument that God has worked for the last two thousand years.

Emile,

Interesting commentary;

"The coming of the Saviour was promised to Abraham and to his descendants for ever. These are the children of promise, to whom it is said: If you belong to Christ, then you are descendants of Abraham, heirs in accordance with the promise."

And in regard to these verses:

31 "The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them, " declares the LORD.
33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
34 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

How could the House of Israel and the House of Judah in these verses be referencing the Faith of Abraham SEED? These verses talk to people that were specified in this verse, "It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them, " declares the LORD."

Now Emile, think spiritually and logically, and consult God....

Would God restate that he was making a New Covenant with people that he already had the New Covenant with? Why would God say the Faith of Abraham SEED are breaking my old covenant so I will give them a new one? They already had it. These Jeremiah verses would be primarily useless. And we know none of God's word is useless!

Now what makes more sense is that God directs these verses to people who did not keep his Old Covenant, and needed a new one as a result. The people obviously these verses are written for knew nothing about a New Covenant! They needed the New Covenant as we all do!

My point, the people these were written for was unbelieving Israel, in which consisted of the House of Judah and Israel, which makes sense as that was unbelieving Israel at the time this scripture was written. So if that is the case we must apply these verses to unbelieving Israel of the times of Jeremiah.

Your post proves my point perfectly.....

God Bless,
Steve
