Excellent post, well put. Have been following the thread, and have refrained from contributing my 2 cents (My God, I just noticed my computer doesn't even have a cents sign! What's the world coming to!)because of the apparent animosity between posters...

Then I realized it's a hot topic...what could be hotter? Sex, the President, possible impeahment...we're all fascinated with this stuff and it brings out strong opinions.

Was he stupid to do what he did? Yes. Should he show a little humility? Yes. In fact that's why I think Hyde etc are riding him so hard, he is just so damn cocky(pardon the pun). Will he be impeached? No. Is it fair? Well, yes. Yes because if Clinton is impeached it will destroy public confidence, send the market into a tailspin, make millions of francs for the French who will be doodling up so many cartoons your head will spin. What do I tell my children about the President who lied? I tell them it was a bad thing to do, and see how no one belives him anymore?

There, my 2 cents for what it's worth

<< About lying under oath or just lying, Is one worst than the other?? I try never to lie.. but I do to a certain extent,. It is a gray area... I don't know that either.. >>

Interesting comment. I grew up learning that lying was very bad and it reflected on your character. As I grew older, I found out that, in order to survive in this world, there were many times one would have to "bend" the truth. Sometimes, to protect your family, sometimes to protect your friends, sometimes to save your own arse! <g>

But, it's taken for granted that politicians and lawyers lie all the time to pursue their goals. This reputation for lying goes back hundreds of years. The Republican Right, for instance, say all the time that outlawing abortion isn't their main cause, but it is.

I'd like to kick Clinton in the arse for jumping into a Right Wing Republican perjury trap. As far as Clinton lying about his sexual affair with an intern? That doesn't really bother me.

What would bother me is if Clinton was removed from office. I voted for him both times and would vote for him again, unless someone better qualified came along.

Coug,

Dipy disagrees with me on the following, but I believe a trial in the Senate will not be a zoo, and that we will see a serious discussion of the issues.

Having the Head Justice from the Supreme Court supervising this trial should ensure it...

Like you, I am tired of the insults.

We all have our convictions, but the only way anything positive will come out of this is if participants keep a fair and tolerant attitude.

People are standing up for their principles, but it seems they see nothing wrong with abandoning those principles if it helps them win this argument.

Let's forget the insults and have this debate move to the Senate to determine wether Clinton should or should not be removed from office.
