Hello Melinda,

Sleep well! I think you've got very little to worry about with regard to whether they'll try to impeach Gore.

First off, if you think the Republicans look like mean, vindictive SOBs now, imagine how they would look if they tried to go after Gore, who unlike Clinton, is known as a pretty nice, straight-shooting guy. Remember also the fact that Clinton's impeachment comes at the end of a four-year inquiry into the man. The flawed independent counsel law will probably not be renewed, and the Republicans will not have this weapon at their disposal to use against Gore.

Plus, Clinton (at the very least) used his office to try and cover up false (or possibly perjurious) statements in a civil deposition--i.e. they've got something on Clinton. About the only thing they've got on Gore is the fundraising allegations, a can of worms the Republicans open at their own peril, for they are just as guilty of the same fundraising shenanigans as the Democrats are, if not more guilty.

Also, Gore, doesn't rile the Republicans they way Clinton did. Gore served in Vietnam, he didn't protest the war like Clinton did. His wife came out against kinky rock songs, as opposed to private health care. He's probably never even tried pot.

These men also don't like Clinton's brazen sexuality (perhaps it elicits homosexual impulses they are trying to stamp out by ridding the country of Clinton?) Gore's aura emits no sexuality.

Plus, Gore's from one of the wealthiest, old-money families in the country. Some old-school Republicans feel that Clinton's white-trash origins and aesthetics are an insult to the presidency.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the GOP's House majority shrinks to 5 after January. So it'll be that much tougher for them to muster up enough impeachment votes.

Kind regards,
Borzou
