ED - I hope your stock analysis is better than your political...

- all I know is everyone continues replacing their pc's - it's a worldwide thing - and MSFT's earnings will continue to be spectaculary.

- But perjury & witness tampering are felonies. Felons can't hold office or even vote. So please stop with that "Basically, the sex secandal is a private matter ....." as you totally miss the boat.

Ed, I agree with you. He did a very human thing -- the affair and trying to it cover up. It was wrong but what is happening to him is worse.
I sense the Republicans were out just out to get him and they finally did. If they impeach and there a trial in the senate, I feel sorry for a lot of those republicans who have to run for office. I think the moderates who are voting for impeachment are hoping there will be no senate trial and Clinton will cut a deal with the senate. This is why so many are now coming out in favor of impeachment. A trial for them would be a disaster in the next election.

I am still hoping that this is just a tactic to get Clinton to admit he lied and then there will be no impeachment.

Basically, the sex secandal is a private matter and should be resolved privately between the president and his wife. So, congress should not investigate this case at the first place, and that is protected by the constution, and no exception to the president, his right of privacy is also protected by the constution. Can you imagine the police will investigate you just because you have a girl friend ? Can you imagine the CEO of a company will be fired just because he had a girl friend ?

I guess you believe that since sex is a private matter than Paula Jones had no right to due process in her civil suit. I don't remember there ever being a right to refuse to testify because it was a "personal question." That's something that Clinton tried to invent.

Can you imagine being prosecuted for committing perjury in testimony about a sexual matter? (The House had a hearing where they heard testimony from several who were.) Can you imagine the CEO of a company being fired because it was learned he committed perjury in a lawsuit against him or his company for sexual harassment? (NOW would scream for it.) Can you imagine being impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice? (Dozens of judges have been.)

What about spousal abuse or spousal rape? Is that a "personal matter?" If the man and woman "resolve it privately" should charges be filed anyway? What if they're not married but only live-ins or friends? What if they don't know each other but they "resolve" it with cash?

Don't give us the "it's only sex" BS.

Maybe we've came to to the point where we need vindictive investigations by both side into the other so that both parties will be afraid to nominate or support the sort of scumbags we've had at all levels of government in recent history. Maybe then it would be in their best interest to promote those who's lives could actually stand up to the scrutiny.
