SLR.. yes I agree on one point: it did not run up but that was because the market was down and not inherent in SLR. Recommending holding through earnings might be your subjective interpretion but it doesn't follow from my own strategies or anything I've stated or indicated in the 'education' area of earnings plays, nor does it mean that others are 'confused'.

2 points in one hour is considered pretty slow for an earnings play.. I posted SLR's beating estimates with 71% increases on the thread yesterday right after the close. It was obvious this one was going to move. but if you saw it gap up and you knew you didn't have real time quotes another stock would have been the way to go. JBL opened at 63 3/8 and went to 70, you could have had INTV, BBY, CC, ESIO, VRTY,PAYX, GNSSF all these earnings plays were up... not to mention SLVN, MLHR, etc. In fact the only earnings play that was not up was RCMT and even that closed up at its day high.

This morning I was ready for it as traders who read the newsletter or even SI members could have been. After a block went through at 143,000 I watched it for a while to see which way it would go.. it hovered around 71 3/4 then actually dropped to 71 1/8 I could have gotten in around 71 1/2 but got in almost 45 minutes later at 71 13/16.. that is a long time for an earnings play to hover around the same level.. it went nicely and leisurely up to 77 by about noon, being one of the easier plays I've made.

If you want to trade you should have the basic equipment of which real time quotes is almost a prerequisite.. or else you won't reap the optimum benefit from the trade and not just SLR but other trades could be missed. A 20 minute delay is quite a bit. SLR was still a good play and will no doubt go up in the next few months whenever the market has a good day so you could still get in after a pullback... There were many other plays today that did not gap up, all earnings plays..

I got e-mail from subscribers all through the week and I reiterated bullishness in SLR even stating that the more the market went down the better the earnings plays would react. A small position in SLR options would have been a good move yesterday as well.
