AT&T raises top WorldNet Internet access price

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Dec 15 (Reuters) - AT&T Corp.'s
WorldNet Internet access service on Tuesday hiked its monthly
price for unlimited service by $2, bringing it in line with
that of industry leader America Online Inc.
AT&T WorldNet Service, the country's second largest
Internet service provider (ISP), will now charge $21.95 a month
for all-you-can-surf service, up from $19.95.
AOL, the largest ISP, announced a similar price increase in
February.
AT&T WorldNet also expanded the features it offers under
its new unlimited plan, which it says targets heavy users and
families with multiple Web surfers.
New features include multiple e-mail addresses on a single
account and a total of 30 megabytes of space for personal web
pages.
WorldNet continues to offer lower-tiered options, including
10 online hours for $9.95, and the $14.95 promotional pricing
plan which includes 150 hours of Internet access.
Additionally, WorldNet has added an instant messaging
feature, which lets members trade voice and text messages with
anyone on the Internet regardless of their online service
provider.
In March, AT&T WorldNet eliminated its $19.99 flat-fee
unlimited Internet use plan and begin charging customers a fee
for use after 150 hours per month, in a move to combat high
usage levels by a small percentage of its customers.
AT&T WorldNet said it has about 1.3 million members.
