Horizontal and vertical count examples.

For a horizontal count, you would need something like this:

X O X O X O X O X <--You can count 5 strait across from here without
X O X O X O X O X a broken column.
X O...O X O X O X
X.....O...O...O

You would apply a vertical count to this as the horizontal "rules"
would not apply.

X O X O.... X <--You can't count 5 strait across from here without
X O X O X...X O a broken column. Not on either of the columns so a
X O...O X O X O vertical would have to be used here.
