Any comments on the statement that higher phosphorous levels will result in faster growing and healthier fish. In Southern Ontario, phosphorous is considered as a pollutant as it does in fact increase algae growth and choke off spawning areas already clogged with purple loosestrife and other aquatic vegetation. This has a detrimental affect onfish by reducing their ability to reproduce. However, the nutrient level of northern lakes is relatively poor and increasing this level may have a beneficial effect to some species.
