Alright, Pat, I gotya! Your post is number 6017. Here is my post, number 5942, which kicked of the STBI idea

Oh, yeah. Well here's my comments from post 5837...

Had 3dfx been making their own boards the company would have more cash than its market cap. The problem is that 3dfx still needs the distribution channels for the retail sales. Oh, did I mention 3dfx should have enough cash at the end of the quarter to buy STB (108M)? STB has excellent channel and OEM penetration BTW.

Just to show there's no hard feelings, I'm sending you a very special e-mail!

Jeff, I am impressed. It appears TDFX management owes you a consulting fee, as they appear to have used your suggestion, reasoning, and explanations verbatim.

BTW: My guess was correct. STBI has a 5 year lease on the new building, but an article in the Dallas Morning News claimed most of the employees work in the plant in Mexico, with only a couple hundred working here in Richardson. If the lease is that small it probably wouldn't be that expensive to buy out of. The office market is in good shape here, with available space down and prices up, so the building could probably be leased back out quickly. I think it all depends on the feeling TDFX gets from the employees about how many would be willing to relocate.

Maybe I should start going out for lunch more over the next couple of weeks and try to sit near some STBI people to see what they're talking about. :) My guess is at the least the video card folks are probably pretty excited.
