tim: nice site...thanks....

PRICE FIRMNESS MARKED the ferrous scrap sector for
December, as several months of sagging values came to an end.
Speculation abounded that a turnaround is imminent as shredded scrap
prices rose about $7 a ton in one reported mill purchase of 10,000
tons. Tags for other grades were said to be sideways, indicating the
depressed market appeared to have found a bottom. Offsetting the
cause for cheer, however, was the dismal state of U.S. steelmaking,
which is being hammered by imports. Aluminum used beverage cans
(UBCs) gained strength, up 2 or 3 cents a pound. Can sheet mills were
said to be especially hungry for UBCs after having run down
inventories.

Thanks for the scrap metal site Tim...

While all prices are down from last year, there is a slight positive bias from report to report...
