it depends on which quote provider you use for the tic movement. You can have the screen refresh every second if you like. I understand Freerealtime does not want their service to be used as a quote feed so I use Datek.

I mainly use it for alerts. Datek streamer is a nice service which is a cheap level II

QT is a good tool - been using for several months now. Especially like the intra day charts with the bid and ask displayed along with sale. Use the beta, it gives you a lot more. Just watch out for the frequent updates and save a backup copy of the last working version as the updates sometimes introduce new bugs with the new features. And do not use it with the FreeRealTime quote server - they don't like you to connect with any automatic quote fetcher and will suspend your access. I use DATEK without problem.
