Nice observation. I do not believe that the oil companies in the US have much influence with the Democrats. Besides, it is much more non inflationary to have low oil prices. I live in Houston so we get hurt but the rest of the country enjoys the low prices. Also, the US oil companies only have so much leverage on world oil prices as Mexico and other Latin America countries along with the tradional producing countries need the money very desperatly. They, for the most part, have no other resources to gain income for their people. They have to pump and sell.
