Missing the point, as usual, Dan - the point was that extremism on either side is dangerous and can end up expressed in violence against the opponent. The administration and media's demonizing of the supposedly dangerous right created a climate that allowed the cowboys of the ATF to act out the extremist left's desire to punish opposition in the first place, and then made it necessary for the FBI to take the final action they did.

If the folks in Waco had been a band of "free love" "villiage" socialist liberals with a "hate-the-right" web site they would have been left alone permanently. Instead, they were just too far right and started offending some liberal sensibilities because they had this fascination with defending themselves against what they thought was going to happen to them.

As to the Helms quote - I remember it. I also remember the storm of controversy over it. I have to admit I thought it was hysterically funny at the time, then thought better of it. It sounded too close to home and might have let some nut case find a justification. Helms is a loose cannon and I'm sorry, guys that age are apt to go off into the ozone too often. I think we should have term limits and/or age limits.

LesX, on the other hand, is a private citizen (at least we are led to believe same), not a public person like Helms or even the seemingly deranged Alec Baldwin, and his specific kinds of direct threats should be taken much more seriously.

Interesting, but only marginally relevant to the Liar-in-Chief's situation. As usual.
