Cyberian gets referrals from Amazon.com
KENT, Conn., Dec 16 (Reuters) - Cyberian Outpost Inc., an Internet-only computer
products retailer, said Wednesday it has been included as one of the featured
companies on Amazon.com's new ''Shop the Web'' referral service.

Following the announcement, Cyberian stock surged nearly 15 percent to $29.875, up
$3.875 in active midday trading on Nasdaq Wednesday.

By clicking on the ''Shop the Web'' icon on Amazon.com's home page, consumers will
have instant access to a list of Outpost.com's computer hardware, including
descriptions, pricing information and direct links to Outpost.com where the products
can be purchased.

Comparison shopping database technology at Amazon.com, called Junglee, enables
consumers to compare prices across the Web for products such as computer
hardware, clothing and accessories, electronics, toys and travel.

''As part of the new ... referral service, Outpost.com is extending its reach online by
providing Amazon.com customers with additional product purchasing options,'' Darryl
Peck, president and CEO of Cyberian Outpost said in a statement.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal is part of a range of efforts by Cyberian Outpost to increase its exposure,
including a major television marketing campaign begun in November.

It also formed an alliance with CDNow and other online retailers to form
ShopperConnection, which offers links to other sites in the network once a customer
makes a purchase.

Under the terms of the Amazon.com deal, Cyberian Outpost will receive direct links
from Amazon.com to the products featured on Outpost.com.
