Food monitors withdraw from Iraqi border posts
UNITED NATIONS, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Lloyds Register, the British company that provides border monitors to the United Nations in Iraq, said on Wednesday it was withdrawing its staff, the United Nations announced.

The monitors, under contract to the United Nations, certify the arrival of food and other humanitarian goods in Iraq. Without their certification, suppliers of goods under the U.N. oil-for-food program cannot be paid.
