Mike, >>>I expect the end result will be the most severe bear market since the Great Depression.<<<

I hope for your sake as well as mine that you are wrong. I'm not old enough to remember the Great Depression (having missed it by a few years) but people tell me that it was not fun. There was a lot of suffering. Especially for the elderly who lost all their money in the stock market or through some trickle down mechanism and were then too old to make it back.

Even if you are wrong, there is still a great deal of concern in the near future - especially with the impeachment thing going on.

This impeachment thing is not just a Liberal versus Conservative matter. Sure there are a lot of mean spirited Conservatives that would do anything to drive Clinton out of office just as there are a lot of sleezy Liberals that want to keep him in office to promote some off the wall agenda.

But, by and large the 536 members of congress reflect who we are. Some are smart and some real stupid. There are probably as many good people and mean spirited people in congress as there are in the general population.

There is, however, only one POTUS. There is only one person that is responsible for getting us into this current situation. Whether what he did is impeachable or not is something that Congress will have to decide - and chances are they will come up with the right decision.

Whether Ken Starr is a SOB or not is not the real question. If Ken Starr initiated something without merit the elected members of Congress will see through it and do what is appropriate.

Whether the POTUS did something that merited impeachment or not will be decided by a mechanism that is not broken. It is a mechanism that most thinking people will agree - works.

The biggest problem I have is with the uncertainty that the impeachment (trial by the Senate)will cause in the world and the world's economy. It is also a huge distraction and an embarrassment for all who have to participate in it.

It is all caused by the very poor behavior of the POTUS. It is behavior that most civilized people will not and can not accept. If the impeachment process reaches the Senate - there is only one thing that can be done. That is, Bill Clinton must resign. For the good of the nation. There is no one else that you can blame.

Mary
