I wasn't really "after" something--just curious why people buy these external drives with expensive media while CD ROM media have become so cheap. I didn't realize there was this problem with the file system on CD ROM drives. What makes it worse is I don't have much of a conception of what a file system is, (but I have high hopes).

Speed and direct accessability.

PS I did have that problem setting up my CD ROM recently. Now it's showing in "My Computer" but not in "Device Manager"

If its working I wouldn't worry about it...

Sean

Sometimes they get "hidden" in the Other devices container object of the device manager. You might want to give it a check if you haven't already.
