After being mesmerized by the level two screens, I can't help but wonder who's behind it. If anyone else out there was observing, the Island was constantly the high bidder and low seller. This is a relatively new trading exchange that serves as a market maker for electronic trading. It was written up in Forbes this summer. It specializes in catering to the bucket shops like Broadway which was previously reported to have accounted for a significant percentage of AMZN's volume. Their typical bid was 100-200 shares, but began to enlarge significantly (2000+) prior to the runup at 290 this afternoon. I can't help but wonder if it was planned.

The question now is are whether fear or greed will win out over the short term. After 80 points in 2 days, Even the most bullish might have a hard time pushing it higher. One big reason is liquidity. Just a 200 share order requires over 50 grand. For the record, I was boxed until this afternoon, and decided to see if gravity works over the next few days. My exit price on the long was 285 1/2 which was averaged from a low of 279 to a high of 299. We'll see.
