Actually we do sell Mead here in our (my wifes) farm-shop.

The history of Mead:

Mead is considered to be the oldest alcoholic beverage in the world. During the reign of the Vikings, mead was referred to as the fines drink available.

Poets in the "Elder Edda" (Compendium of Poetry from the 8th-10th century) refer to Mead as a drink generously and frequently given to the gods and men.

In the Middle Ages and part of the Renaissance, Mead was drunk at Court and amongst the rich, and Mead was ordered by Kings for weddings and other feasts.

It was first during the Middle Ages that Mead became commonly known beverage amongst the ordinary people. Bee Keepers are first heard of in Scandinavia around this period. Previously, honey was gathered in from the hives of wild bees, which meant, that Mead was most likely to have been an expensive drink and not commonly available to everybody.

Following the introduction of bee keeping to Scandinavia, Mead became very popular and accessable for most people, However, it is at this time, that The Royal Courts began to interest themselves for wine from Southern Europe.

Our disclaimer states:

As we all know how the Vikings behaved after heavily drinking mead combined with beer, we take no responsibility for any damage you may cause due to enjoying this wonderful drink - :-)

Well that was off topic - but for sure the lite does glow after a couple of bottles.
