I don't know why the futures would drop during the speech. You can bet that there is short covering going in the OILs and the Oil Service Sector. The strike will more than offset tax selling pressure and we should see a significant spike in prices tomorrow and Friday. It appears the strike is scheduled to continue for several days.

While the timing is politically suspect (wag the dog); this action has been ordained to occur. The only question was when. With Clinton's record, the timing should have been easily predictable once the Judiciary finished its work.
