ARCA was down during most of the last hour today. Thus it is important for traders to learn how to go direct to other ECN's, how to use selectnet, how to cancel an order and change routing. Depending on ARCA will cost you like it cost some panicked traders when they had market orders that had not filled after 30minutes!!! on ARCA, and when they called up MB Trading, they could not help them. They said it was a Terra Nova problem.

ARCA does the prefercing. It goes to where the best price is, including all ECN's and market makers. In some cases it uses SNet in others it uses private connections to reach the best price.
