Caprius says auditors may doubt continuance

WILMINGTON, Mass., Dec 23 (Reuters) - Imaging systems maker Caprius Inc. on Wednesday said auditors are likely to have
doubts about the whether the company can continue to do business, if it is unable to find a buyer for its Aurora imaging technology.

Caprius on Wednesday reported a fiscal 1998 net loss of $17.5 million, or $2.49 a share. Losses included two non-cash charges of $7 million for purchased research and
development related to its merger with Advanced Mammography Systems, and a $1.9 million for the writedown of intangibles related to its rehabilitation business.

Chairman and Chief Executive Jack Nelson said in a statement that Caprius would continue to try to sell or find a partner for its Aurora technology.

Caprius describes Aurora as the only dedicated breast magnetic-resonance-based imaging system that has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The
company said its auditor's report to be released on Jan. 13 on the year ended Sept. 30, 1998 may describe its ability to stay in business as a going concern, if it fails to sell
or find a buyer for its Aurora technology.
