Michael, the local Costco store is selling the Compaq Presarios with the Iomega drive included. The local Circuit City, Office Depot and Best Buy stores have buy direct options here in Southern California.
A computerized display is in the PC department giving information of all Compaq Presarios and specifications for special orders.
I spoke with a salesperson at a local Circuit City store and he told me that their "in-store" PC resale inventory does not include extras in order for the price to be lower and competitive. He stated: "Most new users of computers do not realize the importance of additional storage requirements. They can buy external drives if they wish. Otherwise, they can buy on special order."
At the local Best Buy store, I saw a Hewlett Packard computer with an internal Iomega drive included. I was told by that salesperson that they have no control over what inventory would be delivered to their store. Any compaq's can be special ordered through the store's buy direct marketing system.
