<<Am I correct?>> You've pretty much hit it.

<<I'm much, much more upset about "Gulf War II," as the media has labeled it, than BC's attempts at covering up a sexual affair>>

Somewhat like jbe mentioned earlier. We start out with one paradyme and we continue to act on it way beyond the justification of its original design, even after all the variables have moved and its a whole new picture.

So, in this case we have a couple of these. What started out to be about sex for some people, is now about lack of credability and low support for political objectives. Its about the exploitation and vulnerability of key political roles and processes. What started out to be a short term squeez play on a nearly toppled Saddam has turned in to a self renewing machination essential for maintaining the balance of power in the middle east at the cost of unprecidented innocent lives. We put this in motion, yet we don't have control over the influences to resolution. What started out to be political military strategem has lost focus.

Now we have reached a crisis for a relatively immature culture. Do we strenthen the foundations of constitutional principle? Do we afford lattitude in our leadership ideology? Giving up our great experiment agenda. What do we do about what appears to be a gaping opportunity for enemies poised to drive a wedge into the crack that has appeared in the integrity of our governmental structure. Is our definition of purpose sufficient to meet the challenges at our doorstep. Or, do we fuddle along indecisively over which end of the egg to open while the complex world social society over whelms us in our newly manifest incompetence?

<If there were more Democrats on board, I could swallow the notion that this wan't in large part some Holy War by the religious rightwing extremists.>

Borzou :

You know I respect your views, but I wish you could see that a majority of the people favoring impeachment are not right wing extremists, or religious fanatics.

I believe the best way the country will come to terms with this mess will be through a trial in the Senate. As I've said numerous times before, I believe Renhquist's presence will force the participants to address the issues, which are Constitutional, and to be tolerant of each other's views.

If Clinton deserves a censure, he will get it. If he deserves vindication, he will get it. If he needs to be removed from office, it will happen.

Now, about Iraq. There is no easy solution, but IMO, these semi-wars we are periodically witnessing through CNN's voyeuristic reporting are obscene and useless. The only victims are the Iraqui people, and Saddam gains in prestige.

I think the US and its allies must sell a case to the UN where Saddam is held personally responsible for the actions of the Iraqi government, so that if force has to be used, it is used once only, with the explicit objective of removing Saddam from power.

Regards,
