Well, yes, Colbeth got raked over the coals by Microsoft, as have many "partners" before and since. My recollection is there was a per-unit royalty for Win3x, but no royalties at all for Win95, Colbeth was probably counting on another year's delay or something. That would have been well within a standard deviation for Microsoft releases, but Colbeth probably wasn't counting on the broad consumer acceptance of an OS that sucked more, not less. It's what the customers wanted!

Who would think this? One thinks that MSFT gave this away to cripple their competition that had to get income from browser products, as per the usual practice there.
