jbe - good points. Purely from a constitutional standpoint, I find the idea of those kinds of laws problematic. I think it's mostly PR and the authors realize it doesn't stand a chance.

The answer, IMO, involves the moral will of the people of the US to insist that our President, in unison with the Congress, put together the resources to pound Iraq's military to dust. Only when there are no tanks, APC's, helicopters and planes left and Saddam's officers have nothing with which to engage the opposition will he be effectively dealt with by "his" people.

Unfortunately, our military is trying to do this with one hand tied behind its back. With the purported "polls" shaping public opinion in support of their flawed and dishonorable Commander in Chief, they are being sent out to do the bidding of a man (and the supposed "majority" of Americans who support him) when they have been thoroughly abused and demoralized by intentional denigration and neglect.

Only their personal honor keeps them going through the motions at his behest.

Sad.

Pray for all of them.
