thanks for the post. I was confused because you typed GI (which is some petroleum product company) not GIC. Well, sometimes keyboard buttons are too small for me too :o)

I don't think CSCO will buy GIC. I think LU is more likely, including GIC's proximity to LU's PA division.

Cisco won't buy GIC. Not a chance.

1 - Buying GIC would eliminate Cisco's opportunity to sell software technologies to other set-top box manufacturers. Software which will help drive infrastructure.
2 - Set-top's are a low margin business. cisco is looking for high margin businesses..
3 - Although Cisco does sell hardware they're value add is in software, GIC is a pure hardware play.
4 - Cisco is already doing well in the set-top space and getting what they want...so this purchase would make little sense.
