Slider, (re: GIFI)

I just spoke with Mr. Chauvin/Pres. Gulf Island.. I ask him if the GIFI module on the Petronius platform was recoverable. He said he didn't know, but it was unlikely since nothing of that magnitude had ever been recovered (in repairable condition) from those depths (over 1700) in the GOM. When asked if he thought they would get a contract for replacement, he stated he didn't know but hoped so and added that the insurance carrier would be part of the decision making along w/ TEXACO & MARATHON.

Incidentally, my focus on GIFI is because I like to use it as an indicator for the OSX. It is small (11.64m shares), has no debt, great growth potential, well managed, low P/E and is suffering the same pangs (historically low crude prices) as the rest of the sector. The price reacts quickly to all news good and bad. A few hundred shares can move the price significantly (on a percentage basis) during periods of low volume and it can turn on a dime. eg. todays range:
8 - 9 1/2, currently 8 5/8
