Thanks Daniel: "...Industry executives say the battle pits an increasingly desperate Qualcomm against mounting international support for a rival standard that would make Qualcomm's existing technology significantly less attractive to operators, if not obsolete. Qualcomm has mounted a vociferous counterattack, appealing to the U.S. government to defend it from what it says is anti-competitive behavior, a move that has had repercussions on U.S.-China trade talks." ---------------------------------------------------------------- Obsolete? And the networks aren't even built out yet? Increasingly desperate QUALCOMM? They must be confusing Ericy's desperation with QUALCOMM's calm continuation of cdmaOne and cdma2000. There is an international conspiracy to steal Q! property, but look who's on Q!'s side. Sure enough, Bill Clinton and Al Gore, Charlene Barshevsky and a political, legal and military system which is being demonstrated on Iraq at the moment. France has called for the USA to call off the dogs. Well, if SETI and the Groupe Speciale Mobile [GSM] gangsters try to steal QUALCOMM property, guess who will wag a warning figure. Bill Clinton will be looking for another 'rally the troops' issue to distract everyone from impeachment and to make his name in history. He won't let a Congressional Medal of Honor winner be ripped off by the GSM and VW40 crowd. Bill will wag a finger firmly. Meanwhile, NTT is losing ground in the cdmaOne race. VW40 is going nowhere. ITU doesn't know what to do and hopes for an agreement. GSM operators in Europe are running out of space and time. cdmaOne is developing quickly as is cdma2000. Nokia has got all bases covered. The pressure is going to be most felt by Ericy. Expect a fig leaf soon. I suppose this pressure from NTT and other operators could be used as one = "Okay, we can't have this absurd delay which QUALCOMM is forcing so selfishly on the whole industry, whole world and all the consumers. We will sacrifice VW40 chip rate and use the inefficient QUALCOMM idea. The operators are desperate and we must produce what they want. So we will accept the lower chip rate, we'll accept 3% royalties, discounted for early SETI approval of the standard, provided we can attach these bells and whistles and call the new standard "W-3G". Q! will say "Okay, you win". $80 by 31 Dec. Mqurice
