Has anybody heard anything about Sotheby's (BID) launching an auction Web site?

Someone said this is such a calm thread....calm before the storm, I say.

Here are few "conversation" starters: First of all many, many items go unsold. Few are going to waste their time buying some $5 item through EBAY. Yet many listings are just that, minor items. Heck the freight costs eat up any savings!

Hey, I love the concept. It's fun to browse through all the old junk, but I ain't paying $200 plus to own the stock. I'll buy the old junk, first!

I'll start a riot here... It's a cute little site and business, NOT a multibillion dollar capitalization business. It's maybe a $10 stock.

Someone said "advertising" the savior of every internet business. Man, every web site in America is doing advertising. There are zillions of sites competing for the ad money and competing to be your internet portal.

Big friggen deal. There's not enough web advertising to prop this puppy once the craze has worn off. Watch what happens when the Beanie fad dies.

Good luck!
