<<<Everyone talks of how respected Clinton is. >>>

Yes, but after the Monica fiasco I doubt that Yassar Arafat will want to shake his hand any time soon! <guffaw>

<<<I disagree with the bombing because it simply has no principle. I did not approve of the 1991 bombing for several reasons, but at least then there was a basis upon which a principled attack on Iraq could be executed.>>>>

Same here. Dropping five hundred pound bombs on Baghdad is akin to dropping them on Washington. It leaves a big mess and does little to break the military strength of the enemy. I was opposed to the manner in which the operation was carried out. The whole damn payload should have been dropped right on the heads of the Republican Guard and that would have been a much more beneficial toward breaking the backbone of their military.

<<< There is no way this fiend attacked Iraq on the basis of sound
principle. He did it for himself.>>>

It's a case of "killing two birds with one stone". The bombing had to occur. The Madman in Iraq (Sadaam, not Dipy) backed Bubba in a corner. After repeated attempts to save face by kissing Hussein's ass it came down to this or nothing at all. Unfortunately, the President wasted about three years pandering to the anti-war, diplomacy at all cost crowd and there is no telling what Iraq holds in mass destructive capability as a result. But hey...ain't it grand that the impeachment vote was supposed to be the day after. What's disturbing is that the scenario is so easy to see....

UN Inspector : "We're here on a surprise inspection."
Iraqi soldier : "We're sorry we can't let you in, it's against the rules"

UN Inspector reports to President, President threatens Iraq, Iraq moves material...

Iraqi soldier : "Oh come right in, it was all a big mistake."
